Missed Flights
I had a boss in New York that would say if you’re not missing a few flights a year you’re spending too much time in airports.
I didn’t completely agree with this logic but I liked the intensity! I’ve wondered since what are other negative events we should be experiencing, at least occasionally. Forward motion creates friction and a lack of friction can signal not enough motion.
In Sales, I like the idea that you should be receiving several “no”s everyday as there’s no other way to get to “yes”s.
With your personal circles, if you aren’t getting occasionally ghosted you’re likely not putting yourself out there enough.
More generally, I think over the course of a lifetime you should likely have a few serious injuries. If not you’ve probably been too conservative.
You should also stack up a few enemies over a lifetime. Not everyone will agree with your specific mission and if you make traction some percentage of people will try to stop you or at least envy you.
If everything feels smooth and comfortable it may be a sign that there’s no movement at all.
